Hiking
Hiking
Boots on the gravel, morning still new,
Sweet air and a deeper shade of blue.
The world down below starts slipping away,
And my thoughts get lighter with every step I take.
No rush, no race, just time to be,
A trail of little wonders waiting on me.
And the higher I go, the quieter it gets,
Like the mountain is teaching me how to reset.
Hiking in the mountains, where the sky feels close,
Where the wind tells stories only silence knows.
And I leave what I’m carrying down in the trees,
Trade it for a steady heart and open lungs that breathe.
If I ever forget what “enough” can be,
I’ll find it on a trail that brings me back to me
Hiking in the mountains, wild and free.
Sun on the ridgeline, bright on the stone,
A tiny wildflower growing on its own.
There’s a creek that laughs as it runs on by,
And a hawk drawing circles in the patient sky.
And I don’t need much—just room to roam,
A little bit of wonder, a long way from my phone.
Every climb is a promise I learn to keep,
One more breath, one more step, one more reach.
Some trails are gentle, some make you work,
Some days you feel strong, some days it hurts.
But the view doesn’t judge, it just opens wide
Says, “You made it here,” with the whole world inside.
And I remember, standing where the clouds roll through:
The climb changes me… and so do you.
Hiking in the mountains, where the sky feels close,
Where the sunlight dances on the granite slopes.
And I take what I need and I leave what I don’t,
Bring back a brighter “yes” from a quiet “I won’t.”
If my life gets loud, if I lose my view,
I’ll follow that trail line straight to the true
Hiking in the mountains… me and you.
